Nearly 100 million selfies are taken each day.

Never, in the history of mankind, has culture been so inundated such oddly specific visual content. The self portrait, the “selfie”, is now the most common image in our collective libraries.

What effects have such a staggering flood of images had on art? How has contemporary portraiture responded?
I’ve been asking myself these questions a lot lately. I hope to answer them with SELFIE! (the influence of social media on portraiture).

SELFIE! is a group-exhibiton by around 10 artist whose is influenced by social media. Photographers, painters, video and visual artists. SELFIE! consists of essays, art-work and installations. The exhibition will be free and open to the public during August 2019.

Full artist lineup, a more coherent description, exhibition essay and venue details will be released by May 2019.
Until then, join the exhibition waiting list.
